Brand new Gyro-Trac GT-250 mulcher
Fresh Off The Line

This isn't a refurb.
This is a brand new GT-250.

Every refurbished Gyro-Trac earns its reputation. But bolt-for-bolt, the new GT-250 is a heavier machine. Tim Bush walks the frame, the cab, and the engine bay to show you exactly what changed and why it matters in the field.

Machine Weight

Same GT-250 name. A noticeably heavier build.

Tim Bush put a brand new GT-250 next to an earlier model to show the difference, panel by panel. The cutter head door, the trunnion mounts, the push bar, the cab, the engine access, the cooling system: nearly every point of the machine has been reinforced, redesigned, or upgraded. It is a quick, honest, down-and-dirty walkthrough, and it is straight from the guy who sells these every day.

Built heavier, point by point

New GT-250 Earlier / refurb models
FRAME / 01

Cutter Head Door

NewHeavy-duty door recessed back inside the head, mounted with larger bolts, roughly a half inch.
PriorDoor sits on the outside of the head, secured with 3/8-inch bolts.
FRAME / 02

Trunnion Mount

NewMounts to the frame at the undercarriage and is secured again up top. Now standard on every Gyro-Trac machine.
PriorTrunnions mount only on the rear deck, supported by a single cross rail.
FRAME / 03

Push Bar & Cylinder Guards

NewHeavier push bar with bigger pistons to guide the tree while cutting. Stout cylinder guards front and center.
PriorSome earlier machines run no hydraulic push bar at all. Refurbished units have one, just not this upgraded version.
CAB / 04

Operator Cab

NewComfortable cab with a six-way air ride seat and the latest LED control panel.
PriorEarlier interiors and controls, without the current panel technology.
ENGINE / 05

Engine Compartment Access

NewDoors now open from the sides on large, heavy-duty hinges for full accessibility.
PriorDoors open from the top on smaller hinges, the small detail Tim says adds up fast.
CAB / 06

Push-Button Cab Lift

NewPush-button access to the whole machine for maintenance and clean-out, with a manual jack override.
PriorOriginal models were manual, jack-operated only. Refurb machines already carry the push-button cab.
Rear Deck & Serviceability

The back end changed the most.

Gyro-Trac manufactures its own steel track undercarriage, and the new GT-250's rear end was redesigned around access, cooling, and adding implements.

A

New Rear Bumper

Hydraulic tank and fuel tank now sit inside the bumper, which is also built to mount an implement, like the ripper running on Gyro-Trac's California orchard recycling machine.

B

Covered Winch

A new cover sits on top of the winch, protecting it from debris during mulching.

C

Top-Mounted Cooling

Cooling moved from the back of the machine to above the engine, with a reversible fan you can set to clear debris on your own interval. Tim says he's never seen one run hot.

D

Open Clean-Out

The air conditioner condenser sits at the back with wide open access for clean-out, alongside the DEF tank and an easy-to-reach fuel fill.

E

A/B Fuse Panel

The in-cab monitor tells you exactly which fuses are good or bad, so electrical troubleshooting starts before you ever open a panel.

F

Head Safety Clips

Safety clips hold the cutter head up while you're changing or sharpening teeth.
